Leadership Philosophy
"Technology is a tool, not a goal. I start with the market's unsolved problems and assemble the right technology, talent, and capital to build a practical solution."

Wang Bo
Environmental Science Committee

Founder & Executive Director, Sealand Technology

Wang Bo is a founder who operates at the intersection of industrial manufacturing, market analysis, and underwater robotics. With a career built on identifying and solving complex technical challenges, he founded Sealand Technology not as a technology-first venture, but as a direct answer to an underserved market need: automated underwater ship hull cleaning. His experience spans the full lifecycle of product development—from R&D in heavy industrial equipment for state-owned enterprises to building a robotics company from the ground up. As the Executive Director of Sealand, he translates deep market insights into commercially viable products, assembling the cross-industry ecosystems required to move from concept to global deployment.

The Professional Pillars

  • Founder & Executive Director, Sealand Technology (广东深蓝水下特种设备科技有限公司)

  • Technical Manager & Market Director, Yunnan Fuda Machinery Co. (云南福达机电有限公司)

  • Early-Stage Explorer & Resource Integrator, Underwater Robotics Sector

Industry Impact

  • Market Identification & Commercialization: Pinpointed the global market gap for automated underwater ship hull cleaning and built a company to service it, securing contracts with major ports and entering the European market.

  • Core Technology Development: Led the R&D that solved critical technical challenges, including water-dynamic positioning and self-adaptive curved surface cleaning, resulting in multiple patents and software copyrights.

  • Cross-Sector Ecosystem Building: Established a collaborative platform integrating Shenzhen-based SMEs, state-owned enterprises (including China State Shipbuilding Group), and leading academic research institutes.

  • From-Scratch Product Delivery: Managed the entire product lifecycle from initial blueprint to five successful prototype iterations and final commercial deployment, creating a market-ready "hardware + algorithm + service" solution.

More Than Just a Résumé

The Industrial Foundation: Mastering Heavy Equipment
Wang Bo’s journey began not in robotics, but in the demanding world of heavy industrial manufacturing. At Yunnan Fuda Machinery, he was responsible for technical management and market development for special equipment supplied to state-owned giants like China State Shipbuilding. This role was a crucible, teaching him the entire process of high-end equipment development—from R&D and precision machining to supply chain management and final delivery. He didn’t just learn the technology; he learned how to manage complex client relationships, navigate long-term procurement cycles, and ensure that sophisticated hardware performed reliably in the field. This experience gave him a deep, practical understanding of what it takes to build and deliver robust industrial-grade machinery.

The Market Explorer: Finding the Underwater Niche
Armed with his industrial expertise, Wang Bo spent over two years systematically exploring the underwater robotics landscape. Instead of starting with a technology and searching for a problem, he did the opposite. He visited major ports, shipyards, and design institutes, immersing himself in the operational pain points of the maritime industry. It was during this period of deep listening that he identified his target: the inefficient, labor-intensive, and often hazardous process of manual ship hull cleaning. He saw a clear market need for an automated, intelligent solution, and this insight became the foundational blueprint for Sealand Technology.

The Solution Builder: Assembling the Sealand Ecosystem
As the founder of Sealand, Wang Bo’s primary role has been that of a resource integrator and problem-solver. He built the company around a core mission: to create a complete “hardware + algorithm + service” solution for underwater cleaning. This required more than just technical R&D. He forged a unique collaborative ecosystem, bringing together specialized SMEs from Shenzhen, the industrial might of state-owned enterprises like China State Shipbuilding Group (institutes 701 and 705), and the research power of universities. By translating the needs of the market for his technical team and the capabilities of his team for his commercial partners, he successfully navigated five prototype iterations and secured entry into the European market, proving his model of building a business by solving a single, well-defined problem.

With a Master's in Management rather than a traditional engineering degree, Wang Bo brings a unique perspective to the world of hardware. He sees technology not as an end in itself, but as a component within a larger commercial system. His work is defined by a relentless focus on market application, a willingness to break from traditional technical paths, and an ability to build bridges between disparate industries. At Sealand, he isn’t just building robots; he is building a practical, scalable solution to a global maritime challenge.
