GBAYCIA Facilitates Joint Shenzhen Delegation Visit to Hong Kong Yacht Hubs

HONG KONG – On October 23rd and 24th, the Greater Bay Area Yacht and Cruise Industry Association (GBAYCIA) played a key role in facilitating a joint delegation visit from Shenzhen's Dapeng New Area and Qianhai Cooperation Zone to study Hong Kong's mature yacht tourism industry.

This high-level visit aimed to deepen understanding of Hong Kong's successful models in marina operations and maritime management, fostering closer collaboration for the integrated development of the Greater Bay Area's yachting economy.

A High-Level Exchange of Industry Leaders

The joint delegation included senior government officials and GBAYCIA leadership, demonstrating a united front for regional development:

  • Mr. Wang Jingdong, Party Working Committee Secretary of Dapeng New Area

  • Mr. He Zijun, Deputy Director of the Qianhai Authority

  • Mr. Liu Feng, Deputy Director of the Dapeng New Area Management Committee

  • Mr. Wen Huan, Chairman of GBAYCIA

  • Mr. Wu Guoyun (Ricky), Hong Kong Chief Advisor for GBAYCIA


Deep Dive into Hong Kong's Yachting Ecosystem

The delegation conducted in-depth site visits and held discussions at several key locations, including the Wan Chai Ferry Pier Yacht Harbour, the Kwun Tong Cruise Terminal and public mooring area, Hebe Haven Yacht Club, the Sai Kung yacht anchorage area, and Tung Ping Chau island.

Discussions with Hong Kong industry representatives focused on critical topics for the GBA's future, including:

  • Yacht mooring and anchorage solutions

  • Maritime management and safety protocols

  • Boat insurance and regulatory frameworks

  • Marina management and operational models

  • The role of government in supporting industry growth
